Clementine Hunter was an American Folk Artist. She and her family moved to Melrose Plantation as sharecroppers when she was 12 years old. She worked as a cook and later as a housekeeper. Much later in her life, she discovered some paints left behind by an artist. Her now-famous oil paintings depict everyday life on the plantation.
